5. USING THE SYSTEM WITH SUBS

If, for any reason, the Satellite

Output on the subwoofer is not going to be

used to feed the VARIANT 25A units, then it

is recommended to make use of an external

processor to high pass filter the signal fed

into the VARIANT 25A unit at 138 Hz, and

add the necessary delay to match the

phase at the cut offfrequency.

When VARIANT 25A units are used in

combination with VARIANT 18A subwoofers it is

recommended to plug the mixer into the VARIANT

18A's input and then to connect the VARIANT 18A

138Hz high pass filtered output to the VARIANT

25Ainput.

The ratio between VARIANT25A andVARIANT18A

units that DAS Audio recommends to achieve a

correct balance is 4:1 (As it depends on the kind of

music and the application, it is subject to changes).

A level knob can be found on the VARIANT 18A

amplifier panel which allows for decreasing the

subwoofer level when less than four VARIANT 25A

units are to be used, allowing to correct the balance

between Mid-High and Low frequencies.
